Due Diligence
The baseline research worth doing for any El Niño-affected trip, no matter how far out you are.
Does your policy actually cover emergency evacuation, or just a delayed flight?
Basic trip-cancellation coverage and emergency medical evacuation coverage are not the same thing, and a lot of travelers only find out which one they have after they need it. And most insurers stop selling storm-related coverage once a storm is named for your dates — the earlier you check this, the more options you have.
