Four Singapore Layover Hacks

Tap in with the card you already have

The MRT takes contactless bank cards and phone wallets straight at the gate โ€” no need to queue for a transit card for a short visit.

Time the free light show

Garden Rhapsody at Gardens by the Bay is free and runs twice nightly, at 7:45 and 8:45. Aim for it rather than paying for the domes if you’re short on time.

Refill, don’t buy

Singapore’s tap water is safe to drink, so carry a bottle and refill anywhere โ€” it adds up fast in the humidity.

Mind which terminal you fly out of

Terminal 4 is a separate building reached by a free shuttle from T2/T3 โ€” budget that time into your return if your flight leaves from T4.

Prices and rules were verified for 2026 and can change โ€” the SG Arrival Card and vaping rules in particular are strictly enforced, so reconfirm current requirements with official ICA sources and your airline before you fly. This checklist is guidance, not legal or medical advice.
